wonderful neighbor

Today we were inside for more of the mid afternoon. Brooklyn was asleep and Svend was at work, so we watched Avatar (the kids new favorite show). Bergen and Tally just kept fighting. All day long. In the car, outside, in their rooms, at the table, brushing their teeth, etc. ALL DAY. Svend got home and was tired. I sent the kids outside so Svend could rest while Brooklyn finished her nap. Tally likes to be the mom. It's a really good quality, but hard when her siblings know she is NOT the mom. Tabitha begins SCREAMING. I mean SCREAMING outside. I go out and Tally is "clueless" to why she is throwing such a horrible tantrum the entire neighborhood can hear. I pick her up and bring her inside. Meanwhile, Bergen has a misunderstanding and is now bawling for no reason so I send him to time out on the stairs. The reason Tabitha is crying? "She wanted to make mudpies and I KNEW you wouldn't like it so I made her stop!"-Tally. Apparently I need to make a list of 1,000things I think are wrong for Tally to refer to because "mudpies" are not in my mind...
So...I've got Tabitha calmed down but Bergen is still whinning and Tally is complaining so I've got them both on the stairs and there's a knock at the door.. .UGH.
Our blessed neighbor is standing there with fudge-sicles for the kids. She says "I hope I'm not intruding but I thought these might help." She is a SAINT. Instantly everyone was nice again. Her and I got to talk about all the tantrums in our lives...etc. While I'm completely embarrassed by Tabitha's SHRILL screams, I'm grateful for this neighbor, Diane.

Of course, within 10 minutes, the kids had a watergun fight going and it ended abruptly when Tally decided she didn't want to be sprayed anymore and hit Bergen in the back with the rake handle... up to their rooms they went.

BUT we did end on a good note tonight. They stayed in their rooms til dinner and then we had a GREAT time at the park and icecream. I really hope tomorrow is better...since I'll be braving Church by myself...
