yes, Christmas is still coming.

After my pout moment the other day...

I have been doing my grocery shopping on Saturday nights, by my self for the past few weeks. No mid-week trips to the store in efforts to save money.  So far I've been spending around $80 per week for our family. Lets just say we eat a LOT of whole foods and have done away with ANY snack items.  It's kind of different since we like to be out and about a lot and granola bars come in handy... now it just takes more effort on my part.

Anyway, I shop at Dominicks and Target. Not the two cheapest places, but they are next door to each other and lately I've had some really good coupons and deals so it's been okay. I don't really want to spend all that 3.89 in gas driving from store to store!  My other choices are Jewel and Aldi...but jewel rarely has deals and Aldi is mostly snack food with HFCS which we've stopped purchasing...and their produce is cheap but only lasts a few days and since I can't (or won't) go to the store more than once a week, that doesn't help!

So to my topic. Target has their Christmas in July sale going on.  Toys marked at 70% off.  We decided a few weeks ago that our kids will be getting one present from Santa and one present from us. Our total per kid is $15 with a max of $20.  I was able to score Bergen a sweet bow and arrow set and creepy crawlers with refills for $16.  Tally is hard because she's pretty much out of the toy stage...so she got a cool jumprope/stick rope things for $3 and she also has asked for a furr-real and craft items.  Craft items, yes. Furr-real? No. Unless they have a stellar black friday deal on the little thing, she can use her birthday money from grandparents to purchase this.  Tabitha is easy. She's in princess and Dora stage. So, dora dress up shoes for $1.81? YES!  Magic wands for .88? YES!   These will actually be her birthday present in September so I'm not off the hook for Christmas...  Brooklyn is into everything Tabitha is...so more than likely they'll get the same things.  I found some cute tutu's and fairy wands on Pinterest that I want to make them  (and I have their old curtains to do it!)  so time to get my craft on! Anyway, I always over stress about holidays because I want my kids to feel special but I shouldn't. They always feel special and we have always had great times at Christmas and Birthdays. We even have a birthday venue to go to... THE ZOO! Haha.  Anyway, things are good. We are grateful for our health. We are grateful we have an eternal family. We are grateful finances will not be all we worry about forever :)
