back to reality :)

1st off...if I were to start over our first year of residency, I would've had Svend buy all the same color of scrubs and pants! Seriously.  He disagrees...but after washing them, I can't imagine trying to match them all the time...some of the colors are so close... anyways, just a thought.

Well, two weeks in Texas was a wonderful break from reality! The kids and I (and Grandma) got back Saturday afternoon.  My youngest, Brooklyn, had a fever that still hasn't broken on its own.  :( Anyway, got my house officially unpacked! WAHOO!!  It's not as tight as I had thought...tho the kitchen is still REALLY tight. Last night I knocked the bottom off of my hope chest (family heirloom) and it lowered 4 inches so now the kids have a bench to sit at the table.  While we were gone, Svend had to get rid of our original round table top and built a 3ft by 4ft table top. Yep, family of 6 around 3 sides of that... tight but it works!

Today I worked out a schedule for my kids...so we don't all kill each other during their 2 months off school. Now time to figure out doctors. I decided we really like our dentist up in Gurnee, so every 6 months, I'll make the one hour drive to take all of us to her rather than try to find another medicaid dentist we trust (NIGHTMARE!).  Thankfully I got all the dental, physicals, eye exams, and vaccinations done before we moved.  Whew.

Svend is doing another lecture tonight. Sweet. Money in the jar!  Love my husband and love that he's willing to work even more... I'm still nervous about our new budget, but so far so good.  The $310 rent hike is nerve-wrecking but hopefully we'll be okay.

Apartment living is not as bad as I thought. I've met two other moms and my kids like playing with their kids.  There are a LOT of kids... and a LOT of teenagers. Thankfully (though super annoying to my kids), they are all in daycare...so I only have be outside with my kiddos and their new friends monitoring every move from about 6:30-8:30pm.  The day times are MINE! Meaning, I get to plan out the days and everything.

Today we wrote down everything the kids wanted to do this summer...there were a lot of mentions of 6 flags...curse my in-laws for introducing my kids to it last summer and promising a trip this summer!  Otherwise just lots of water and parks, splash pads, and museums. We can do that :) Excited to be in this new place. Even better, we've tackled the bug problem...so it's all good now!
