We have a great ward. We have been so blessed and I am so grateful we moved when we did and enjoyed our last 4 years in Gurnee 2nd ward. They have been with us through so many trials and we are grateful for our ward family.
For the past 2 years, we have sat in a certain spot, behind a certain woman. She is kind of "gruff" on the outside and I have never really been a fan of what she says. However, she has told me numerous times that she enjoys my children and the chaos they create behind her. She remembers when we took away Tabitha's pacifier and all the noise and screaming she did for about 4 months in church. She comments about how she has finally calmed down :) We are grateful for that too.
A few months ago, she started watching my oldest draw in church. She commented on how impressed she was by her artwork and how quickly she could "whip it out." Last Sunday she told me that before we move, she would really like to purchase some of Tally's art. I thought "oh, that's sweet. She'll love to sell her art for $1. She'll be thrilled!" But this woman went a little further. She said "I'd like to give her some money and you can put it in a college fund or whatever you'd like for her later on." So now I'm thinking $10. I have HIGH expectations, right? She comes up to me again after church and says "I'm serious. I'd like to give her $50 and maybe frame some of her work in my home." Insert jaw drop here. Wow.
Tally has been working on her drawings. I've tried to stay out of it and only comment when necessary (like "please don't write on the picture!" or "she doesn't want a BOOK of your work, she wants pictures to frame.") Mostly just telling Tally to not "whip it out" like she does in church, but to take her time on her pictures. She is so excited to have a reason and excuse to be doing what she absolutely loves! Before selling them, I'm definitely taking a picture with all of her priceless works of art!
