are you prepared?

This past summer we had a GIANT wind storm. It completely knocked at all power. It was a Monday, so of course I had NOT been grocery shopping. I packed the kids in the car and we headed to the store. The usual 5 minute trip took nearly an hour, and we came straight home. All the stop lights were out and all the store/restaurants were out too! I was soo frustrated. We had a lot of frozen stuff...but I couldn't cook anything (I didn't think about using our charcoal grill). It was HOT and we just tried to stay in side with the doors shut to preserve whatever cool air we had. So, I realized just how UN PREPARED we were for a real natural disaster! Thank goodness it wasn't the middle of winter. For Christmas I told my parents we just needed to get our 72 hour kit REALLY set up...including a way to cook things. We're hoping to get a camping stove. Today however, on my savemore account, there was a "stove in a can" deal. I thought this was pretty cool. Especially since I have enough credit to purchase it and only have to pay $5 shipping (BLESSING!).
