Anyway... We were so happy when he finally qualified for medicaid because it meant that we no longer had to pay the price of his meds. Our bill went from $150 to $6. However, a few months ago, Medicaid changed a few things. One of those "things" they changed was that if you are over 18, you can no longer get ADD/ADHD medication unless you are mentally retarded. Wow. Big hit.
So, gratefully we have been going to the same pharmacists since we moved here and he worked with us to find a "comparable" drug (there is not generic for the type he was on) for the cheapest price... He even gave me a $10 discount when I went to purchase it for the first time. So, from $6 to $30 for a mediocre medication that "does the trick" but just "okay". The 2nd time I went in, there was *gasp* a new pharmacist...he did NOT give me the discount (boo!). The 3rd time we went in... there was no medication. WHAT?!
It's on back order... a 2 month back order. That's very interesting. Don't you think?? What happened to the medication? Welllllllll.... here's what happened. Medicaid kicked all the patients off of their medications, so they all had to go for the cheapest one... so now EVERYONE is trying for the SAME medication. Awesome. totally. Awesome.
That's just my take...but I thought it was quite the coincidence! and we still have a month on the waiting list...
