round 1. Hubby got home late late late SATURDAY night (hooray not SUNDAY!). Glad he hates driving so he just wanted to finally get it done! (even if they did spend one day shopping...but oh well! it's OVER :) All family is gone now. Back to life as usual. Well not quite yet. Now that he's home everything's been dumped in our room...so maybe by next week we'll be "back to life as usual"
So I was thinking today about this little "guy" inside of me and our Volvo. Wierd I know. Anyways, here's the connection. We bought the volvo to get us through the next chapter---residency...but then baby #4 came into view and it was finally time to stop "just getting by" with things. So now we have an '07 swagger wagon :) Which we will be paying off for the next five years and living tighter than ever...but we can't just "get by" anymore.
When we got prego with #1 nearly 7 years ago we were students. I nearly had my bachelors and hubby was 2 years out. I still remember how naive we were window shopping at the dollar store seeing what we could buy there for the baby to save money. We didn't buy a crib until she was 8 months old (she slept in the pack n play). And, the crib we did buy was from a 2nd hand store and well used... but we new we'd be done with school soon so we just needed it to "get through" this baby :) haha. We bought a cheap mattress too... Everything we own has been to "get through" b/c we never saw the point in spending big money for something that would last when we could get it cheaply and replace it in just a "few short years" after we did have money. haha. Now with baby #4 coming...the crib is going in the garbage, along with the mattress. We had to get a new carseat b/c it broke @ 6months with Sweets. If it's a boy he will need all new clothes... b/c the few that we did have for Bugs were not just 2nd hand but like 4th hand clothes and are gone. I figured the next time i got prego we'd have a job...so I never bought quality maternity clothes... therefore I have about 5 shirts and one pair of pants.
That said. We are just going to "get by" again with baby #4. Except for the van of course :) But seriously... this "age" will be over shortly so there's no point in going crazy maternity shopping or clothing shopping for baby. I guess the baby will need a place to sleep eventually :) but other than that we are fine getting by. We are satisfied where we are with what we have. more is always nice but definitly not needed. We can be and we are happy with what we have.
