So, our budget is basically this:
get paid. Pay bills. Give Svend $120 for gas and food (2 weeks at a time). $ 30-50 gas. $200 for food/misc. $0 left over.
Svend got paid last friday.
I paid bills. Did not pay Svend (paid him with our savings account). $200 on food. $100 on diapers and misc after our stomach flu escapade. Put $200 in the bank to pay off discover card from Ikea shelves we bought. Use that $200 on food, shoes, clothes for the kids. Yeah...we have $25 in our bank account and we went over $275 this two week period.
it's fine right now. Because RIGHT now we have $2700 in savings. But it's not going to be fine if it happens again. I'm nervous. I think I will be buying about bags of carrots each week for snacks...and apples. I need to cook with less meat/chicken. I do already...but now even less. I am glad he gets paid in 2 days...so I can "restart" our budget and have a clean slate. The kids are not playing any sports this summer with a promise that they can go iceskating at open skate once a week. That will be cheaper... and then we can pick it back up in the fall. It's just too much $$.
I only gave myself 1/2 a tank of gas for 2 weeks... it worked out pretty good since I only went about 5 places. Summer will be different with the kids wanting to be out and about. I'm hoping we can stay busy close to home....
