$10

So...pay day is FRIDAY. Today is MONDAY... I have $10!!! WAHOOO!!! Okay...if we had to last longer than Wednesday night, I might not be singing a happy tune...but Svend's parents are coming to town...so YAY! We didn't go over budget!!! FINALLY feeling back on track.

Dr Hayes texted Svend this morning. We haven't heard anything since Monday when he said "welcome" and we said yes to the job... he said his lawyers will draw up his contract after the holiday (July 4th). Last night we were looking at requirements for Texas podiatry...ouch! Svend is STILL excited and says he'll do it no matter what because it's what's best for us. So unless the contract comes back with something super bad on it, we're IN! He said he really trusts Dr. Hayes and feels really good about this. I'm soooo glad!!!!

Svend's parents are coming to town. They don't know anything about Texas... the whole world with come to an end when they find out...especially if they find out before we sign anything. They will do everything in their power to cut us off, push us to find a different job, etc. So, what if they find out while they're here??? Well, if Svend isn't home, here's what I'll say ...maybe...

Yes, we got an offer in Texas and we're really excited about it. It's about an hour from my family. The kids can't wait to go... [insert dirty looks from deanna or some rude comment about how I'm the boss of svend or how it's just going to hurt us by going there or how he didn't look anywhere else because I wouldn't let him]. ... Svend applied to several different states and practices and this one is the right fit for Svend. He's going to get a good salary (of which you will NEVER know the amount) and we can finally purchase a home that's worth purchasing. We're excited. [insert--we can't afford Svend's phone anymore. I don't know if we'll be able to come visit because we're trying to sell our home and we're getting old and we're dying soon]. That's okay. I hope you can be happy for us and that your grandkids will be able to feel your love. [insert--dirty looks, rude comments, or just plain silent treatment]. Maybe you guys should just go back to your hotel until svend gets home. Bye!

Why single?

I remember being engaged and thinking "I can't wait til we're married and we can be together ALL the time." A married friend of mine said "yeah right. We see eachother less now." I didn't believe her :) Well, one month after graduation, babygirl came along. Hubby had a crappy job and didn't get any days off. Luckly she was born on a Sunday. We lived away from any family and dealt for a few days til help arrived. (more like cried and ate toast while never putting down a nursing baby). More school for hubby and Bugs came along. Hubby's don't get maternity leave when they're students...so again we dealt for a few days until help arrived. Moved onto Grad school. Took hubby to carpool every morning @ 6am and picked him up at 5:30pm. Dinner and kids in bed by 6:30 then studying til 10pm. Got a second car (hooray!) which allowed the kids to stay up later and sleep in...thus getting to see daddy more. 3rd year of grad school brought Sweets with it. Hubby got my text to meet me at the hospital. Left school and came over. Back at school the next day. No tears. Lots of help with friends this time :) And family arrived before I was even discharged! Baby #4 came 2 months before graduation…and shortly after we learned we did not match. ..so no job or place to go. we made it though-as you will see. Our caboose arrived at the beginning of our last year in residency. I started this blog when just 3 were at home. It's been a place for me to vent, rejoice, and basically be honest and real with out situation and that of many other students/residents/beginning doctors. Now are in our first year of our career and already we have seen several lows…but we keep chugging forward…and I'm happy to report, I'm not so single any more!
